CALL FOR RESEARCH ABSTRACTS
2026 SOUTHERN REGION AAAE CONFERENCE
Tentative SAAE dates Feb. 1-3, 2026

Abstracts due: Oct. 15 2025 by 11:59pm CST
Southern Region AAAE invites you to submit completed research abstracts for our upcoming conference. Abstracts submitted under this call will be considered for presentation during the concurrent research sessions. Submissions should present completed research that addresses the AAAE Mission of fostering excellence in the discovery and exchange of evidence-based solutions for social science challenges in agriculture, food, and natural resources. We invite abstracts from the following areas:
- Action Research
- Applied Practices
- Evaluation
- Historical Research
- Innovative Ideas and Practices
- Mixed Methods Research
- Q Methodology Research
- Qualitative Research (Including Constructivist, Critical, Feminist, and Queer Methodologies)
- Quantitative Research
- Theoretical and Methodological Advancements
Abstract Preparation Guidelines
When preparing your abstract for submission, please adhere to the following guidelines:
- Submissions should not exceed 6 pages
- Include the following sections:
- Introduction, purpose and objectives
- Theoretical/conceptual framework/perspective
- Methods
- Results/Findings
- Conclusions/Discussion/Implications/Recommendations
- References
- Identify the appropriate discipline area(s) for your abstract on running head:
- Agricultural Education
- Agricultural Communications
- Agricultural Leadership
- Community-Based Education
- Extension Education
- International Agricultural Education/Development
- Post-Secondary Agricultural Education
- Scholarship of Teaching and Learning
- Teacher Preparation
- Other
- Adhere to the following formatting guidelines:
- Prepare manuscript in Microsoft Word format.
- Use Times New Roman, 12-point font.
- Set all margins at one inch on Microsoft Word.
- Single-space manuscript, but double-space between paragraphs, heading and text, table and text, etc.
- Include tables and figures in page count; do not include references in page count.
- Remove your name or other identifying information on/in manuscript. *For example, use [university] instead of your university’s name.
- Center the bolded title of submission at the top of the first page; capitalize only first letters of words in the title.
- Use “Table” function command to prepare tables rather than tabs and spaces.
- Place Tables/Figures within the body of the paper “shortly” after their first mention in text.
- Use “insert, page numbers” command of MS Word to number all manuscript pages, including the first page; center number at bottom of each page. Do not use other footers, or footnotes.
- Follow manuscript style guidelines as specified by the APA Publication Manual (7th ed.), except as modified above. Per the manual, italicize the name of journals, statistical symbols, titles of tables, etc. Do not use the underline feature in above areas.
Furthermore, turn off all hyperlinks of URL references.
Abstract Submission Protocol
Manuscripts must be submitted no later than 11:59 p.m. (Central Standard Time) on October 15, 2025 to be eligible for review. Note: All submission and the blind review process will be completed electronically.
Submission Procedures for Research Abstracts:
- Submit a Microsoft Word file (.doc or .docx) via the AAAE Submission Site at https://submission.aaaeonline.org
- Select 2026 Southern Region Research PRESENTATION Abstracts from the list
- Submit your file as directed
